Day 31: "Hi, mama!"

Not the most creative (or at all really) shot, but that's the best I got for today. We were leaving the library and meeting the Cookie Monster (whom Sasha was very much scared of) and she was just in the best mood ever!

Day 30: birdie

I went shopping today and came home with admittedly too many bags (hey, it's not my fault there are so many great sales going on right now). Among other things, I picked up this little birdie. I think it's just the cutest thing!

Day 29: V-day photo shoot

We did a little V-day photo shoot today. These are two of my favorite shots I got of Sasha. I'm really surprised she cooperated so well!

Day 28: rain drops

Today has been an absolutely bizarre: after a good week of beautiful spring-like weather, we woke up to small beautiful snow flurries; they later turned into full-on snow (which caused quite a lot of traffic in our area). Shortly after, it rained. Then an hour later, the only reminder of any snow on the ground were small puddles.

Day 26: happy after nap

This is what my daughter looks like when she's gotten a decent amount of sleep at nap time: goofy and smiling!

Day 24: a rose

My husband got me a bouquet of roses last week completely out of the blue. They are absolutely beautiful. I love them. And I love being surprised with flowers!

Day 22: playdate

We had a playdate with my friend Ira and her 7-month-old daughter Yeva today. At some point, both Yeva and Sasha wanted to hug Ira. I just adore this picture, the three of them are so sweet!

Day 21: Ooh!

Day 20: bicycle

This is what I found on our walk earlier today. I thought the colors were really cool, even though this bike was missing a lot of vital parts!

Day 19: The Lovely Bones

I just finished reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold a few days ago. It is a story about Susie Salmon, a 14-year-old girl who was raped and murdered and is now watching her family and friends from "her heaven". It is absolutely heartbreaking, but so wonderfully written. I cried. More than once. But it is such an uplifting story. I literally wanted to somehow go through the pages of the book and give this family a big giant hug and cry with them.
Now I'm taking a little  break from fiction and reading up on my toddler books (early potty training, anybody?)

Day 18: pizza

My husband and I went shopping today (and not surprisingly, bought everything except for the few items we actually went in for). We had pizza for lunch and I had the most amazing sausage and pepperoni slice with thick crust. Yes, it was so good I had to take a photo of it (well, that and I needed a photo for the blog anyway).

Day 17: painting

My sister and her boyfriend are moving into a new apartment, so we went over there on Sunday to help them paint. We took a little break to go talk to the guys who were painting the living room asparagus.

Day 16: Oh hi!

This is me. I did this little self-portrait in the car on our way back from the park today. No make-up, a little bit of lip balm and an earring made out of Sasha's toys. Yup, this is me.

Day 15: the sky

While we were playing in the park this afternoon, I looked up and saw the sky. The sun was just starting to set and the tree branches made an intricate design.

Day 14: lock

On our walk today, we passed by a construction site. I kinda liked this lock and took a few pictures of it. I like the blue spray paint and reddish rusty boards. I like the hole in the board through which you can take a peek inside.

Day 12: empty swings

My husband reminded me yesterday that this blog isn't really supposed to be so much about our daughter (since I have a blog mostly about her), so on our walk today, I tried to look around and notice things around us. The swings at the park looked empty and almost sad, like they wanted kids to come and swing on them... I'm so done with this winter!

Day 9: Mes femmes Americaines

This is a picture of a poster I took today. Lame. But there's a backstory to this picture. Exactly 5 years ago today, four American girls met at a dormitory at a French university. They became instant friends. They spent a semester in the wonderful beautiful breathtaking Paris. Two of us now live in New York, one in Boston, and one is moving to London in a few days. So we had a little Parisian reunion. At a wonderful French restaurant in NYC. Where I took this picture of a poster. This is for my Femmes Parisiennes. Love you girls!

Day 8: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Just finished reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. I did it a little backwards though: I already watched the movie and then found the book and just had to have it! It was fantastic. I cried at the end. It was so touching, so eye-opening, so pure and it reads with such ease and just captivates you right from the start.

Day 6: the scream

Miss Sasha was going for the camera while we were playing earlier today: not the greatest picture, I know, but it makes me smile every time I look at it!

Day 4: baby, it's cold outside!

Day 3: new top

Y and I went to a musical called NEWSicle last night (a New Year present from my sister and her boyfriend - thanks guys). I wore this top which I had bought just the day before - it has the beautiful flowers on the neckline. I love it!

Day 2: baby aerobics

This is Sasha hanging out at grandma and grandpa's

Day 1: Happy New Year!

Sparklers - an old old tradition of lighting sparklers as the ball is dropping (or originally as the clock on the towers of the Kremlin are beating 12 times to welcome the new year)

Welcome to my 365 moments!

While surfing the internet (and quite honestly spending way too much time reading other people's blogs), I came across a really cool idea: take at least one photo each day and blog about it. That's it. One photo a day. I thought it was a neat idea and it'd take me little time to actually do it; unlike Julie Powell from Julie&Julia, who decided to cook her way through Julia Child's book containing 524 recipes in a year (which, if you do the math, means that on at least 159 days out of the year she had to make two dishes!) I mean, how hard would it be to take just one picture a day and post it? Stay tuned to see. And for now, welcome!
